Vienna - Mississauga Festival Choir Europe Tour 2014

Vienna was fantastic with the great architecture and bright buildings.  We explored the city under a cloudless sky.

The highlight of the day was a visit to the opera house where I wished I had a tripod to capture more of the magnificent interior.  Not sure why people in Vienna did not like it when it was re-built and redesign after WWII.

In the evening we also went to a concert hall where we were seated at the orchestra seats for a Mozart concert.  The orchestra seats were placed on the stage right behind the orchestra which was a surprise to all.  It was a great experience seeing the animated face of the orchestra conductor throughout the performance.

With the choir we also took a trip to Stift Geras for an evening concert.  We were treated to an excellent dinner of pork, beef, dumplings and salads.  Everyone agreed that it was the best dinner we had thus far on our trip.  After dinner we rehearsed in possibly the Abby's greatest rooms with marble walls and original fresco on the ceiling.

The concert was great and here are the video's from that event:

On the last day of our stay in Vienna we also had a chance to sing at Schönbrunn Palace.  We were to sing at the steps in the palace courtyard and we were afraid we will not be able to as the rain did not want to let go.  We however decided to go on with our concert.  It is hard to be there and not sing and then regret it.  The plan was that if it rains harder, we will stop.  When we sang ".. the rain is over and gone.." from "Rise up, my Love, my Fair One" by Healey Willan the sun appeared and stayed with us until the end of the performance.

Our next stop was in the middle of Alps...

New Years Resolutions

Beginning of September feels just like the beginning of the year and I always think of doing something new or different. My first choice is often education, since it is the beginning of the new school year and more institutions offer classes that will help me my artistic and personal development.  I checked OCAD ( http://www.ocadu.ca/programs/continuing_studies.htm ) for their Saturday courses and I found that the "Portraiture fundamentals" course is offered this fall.  I want to take this course as I never did any formal sculpting and the idea of this course is very appealing to me.  The course starts with 3 classes of sculpting of a human head and then 3 classes of drawing. Unfortunately I realized that I cannot take any Saturday courses due to the recording session in October for the new CD with Mississauga Festival Choir.  I also find the weekday courses very tiring as I would need to go to these classes right after work with practically no dinner and get...
